To motivate students, it is necessary to fulfill their basic needs for independence, skills, and relationship. Meeting these needs not only increases participation, but also allows students to build a sense of control, confidence, and connection in their learning environment.

To encourage motivation in students, it is essential to meet three basic human needs that allow students to make choices in their assignments which helps them feel more in control and boost engagement. Providing challenging yet achievable tasks, along with constructive feedback, ensures they believe in their ability to succeed with their efforts. Additionally, creating a supportive and collaborative classroom environment helps students feel connected to their peers and Teachers. When children have all three of these needs met, we will see a rise in their motivation and engagement. However, if they are overlooked, students may become disengaged, feeling disconnected from the classroom and uncertain of their potential, resulting in a loss of motivation.
